Manchester United winger Antony has praised Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim but hinted that he still wants to leave permanently this summer.

The 25-year-old has been on loan at Real Betis since January, and his move to La Liga has prompted a serious uptick in form. It's caused him to recognise the need for a permanent fresh start away from Old Trafford, although it appears he still has plenty of respect for his former boss Amorim.

Reports suggest that United recently rejected an offer from Betis to extend Antony's loan deal beyond the summer, with the Premier League outfit holding out for £30m ($40m) for their out-of-favour attacker. Even this would be a massive loss for a player United spent £85m ($113m) on in 2022, and it's likely Betis would only be able to afford this fee if they secure Champions League qualification.

Antony told : "I've only had a short time working with Amorim, but he's a very good, intelligent coach. United are going through a difficult time, but he's a good coach. I had good relationship with him but I needed new challenge. I wish him best luck in the world."

The Brazilian appears to see a future for himself away from Manchester, but whether Betis can be a permanent landing spot for him ultimately depends on whether they can reach Europe's premier knockout competition. With fifth place in La Liga now guaranteed a Champions League qualification spot, Antony's side just need to squeeze past Villarreal in order to qualify. With his future at the club at stake, the winger will be hoping he can help them achieve this.
