Koei Tecmo stole a big moment at the September 2025 State of Play, sharing not only the release date of Nioh 3, but announcing the triumphant return of a classic entry in its Dynasty Warriors franchise. Fans have been anticipating Nioh 3‘s release for a few months now, and the surprise addition of a remastered Dynasty Warriors 3 should serve as the icing on the cake for fans of the developer.
The developer has multiple irons in the fire that are all coming to fruition at roughly the same time. Fans have been excited to get their hands on the full release of the next entry in the Nioh series since Nioh 3 was announced with a playable demo in June. While the other reveal came with less fanfare, Koei Tecmo has hinted that classic Dynasty Warriors action would be returning soon, and players now know which remasted game to expect.
Nioh 3 and Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered Release Dates
A previous leak of Nioh 3‘s possible release date has now been confirmed to have gotten it right following the September 24 State of Play live stream presentation, and players will get their first chance to dive into the game on February 6, 2026. Additionally, Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered has been revealed, with its release date following Nioh 3 by just a little over a month, coming on March 19, 2026. This pair of games from one developer at the same showcase offers a lot of variety, as Koei Tecmo presents a challenging new soulslike and a more visually appealing version of the classic hack-and-slash 2001 action game from the PlayStation 2 era.
- Nioh 3 – February 6, 2026
- Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered – March 19, 2026
Announcing Nioh 3 alongside its playable demo was a bold move for Koei Tecmo, letting fans of the series jump straight into gameplay and giving them a glimpse of what the full game would have to offer. Rather than focusing on Nioh 3′s gameplay details, the new trailer focuses on the story, with two brothers from the Tokugawa lineage thrown into a power struggle for the shogunate after one succumbs to a foul darkness. The trailer also depicts how the story will span across several of Japan’s historical periods, from the 12th century Heian era to the Edo era of the 1600s, giving history buffs a fun experience as they rewrite the past to purify its corruption.
The remastered version of Dynasty Warriors 3 was a bigger surprise for the showcase, but it didn’t come completely without foreshadowing. Koei Tecmo announced in August that a Dynasty Warriors remaster was in the works, although it didn’t specify which game in the series would be the focus or when it would be available. There have been 10 games released in the series so far, including the original one-on-one fighting game from 1997 and Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which provided a fresh start for the series earlier this year. Many fans had been expecting a later entry to get the remastered treatment, but the selection of Dynasty Warriors 3 will be a treat to fans from the PS2 era.
