Ryerson started the European clash against Barcelona but was taken off at half-time after collapsing, according to . The defender was taken to hospital after the final whistle but the cause of the collapse is still not known. Dortmund are said to be very cautious about proceeding, particularly after Sebastien Haller's recent cancer battle and Ryerson is now undergoing cardiological and neurological examinations.

Ryerson has not played for Dortmund since the Barcelona match as he did not feature in the 1-1 draw with Hoffenheim last time out. It's not known yet when he will return to action as the club's medical staff seek to determine the cause for his collapse. The defender has been at Dortmund since signing from Union Berlin in January 2023 and is a regular fixture in Nuri Sahin's team.
