Arsenal and Chelsea have been handed a transfer blow as reports suggest that striker Ivan Toney will sign a new contract with Brentford.

Toney had been linked with a potential move in the January transfer window, amid interest from both Arsenal and Chelsea. His contract expires in 2025 but now reports that the Bees are confident they will be able to convince the striker to extend his stay.

It remains to be seen if Toney will see out any new contract but the report states that a new deal will strengthen Brentford's negotiating position in the summer. The England international had been touted as a potential £80m ($97m) signing but that figure could rise if he does put pen to paper.
