This season, Barcelona have been in possibly the best form the club has seen since the departure of Messi in 2021. Hansi Flick's side have been massively exciting this term as the Catalans have scored 97 goals in La Liga, and they secured their 28th league title with a 2-0 win over Espanyol on Thursday night.

Messi's relationship with Barcelona since his untimely departure in 2021 has been very rocky as the Argentine World Cup winner felt hard done by club president Joan Laporta, who had promised him that a contract renewal would be possible despite the Blaugrana's dire financial situation.

Four years on, questions have been raised by fans regarding Messi's feelings towards Barcelona as the Argentine was never one to congratulate the club on their victories, like many other former players had. However, the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner has now given his congratulations to the Catalan side after their La Liga title. He posted on Instagram: "Congratulations!"
